Still recovering from the African swine fever outbreak in late 2025, Taiwan’s pig industry remains in an uncertain phase in early 2026. In April–May, Taiwan was reinstated as ASF-free by WOAH, and export channels gradually reopened, including fresh pork shipments to Singapore and phased market access recovery in the Philippines. At the same time, structural pressures remain, including global trade adjustments and stricter biosecurity requirements, which continue to affect both production costs and market pricing, though the full impact is still evolving. Industry restructuring is accelerating, and producers are under increasing pressure to improve efficiency and competitiveness in a changing market environment. If support is needed, we are happy to share experience from France and Asia (China, Taiwan, Vietnam) in performance improvement and cost control.
Wishing you an insightful May.
This year marks Cooperl’s 60th anniversary in the swine industry, and we were delighted to share our “Farm to Fork” philosophy and solutions at Livestock Taiwan Expo. During the exhibition, we showcased our French genetics, innovative equipment to improve production performance, and smart farming solutions, while exchanging ideas with industry partners on efficiency, innovation, and the future of pig farming. For 60 years, Cooperl has continued investing in the swine industry from genetics and production to smart farming management with innovation, efficiency, and sustainability at the heart of everything we do.
In March, we hosted an online session focusing on key principles and practical applications of biosecurity in pig farms. The session covered core biosecurity concepts and how external and internal management measures help reduce disease risks, including personnel flow control, zoning systems, one-way movement principles, and standardized cleaning and disinfection procedures.
We also discussed African Swine Fever (ASF) risks and highlighted data showing the positive impact of improved biosecurity on mortality, feed efficiency, and overall production performance.
